Only visits to official National Park Service (NPS) Units are counted for this award. Affiliated Areas, National Trails (except for those counted as units by the NPS), and National Heritage Areas do not count for this award. See the note at the bottom of this form for the NPTC's position on what constitues a "visit."
Note: The NPTC has no official rule on what constitutes a “visit” to an NPS Unit. Generally it is thought that you should either set foot in the park or do a sightseeing activity in the park, but beyond that, it is up to you to determine what is necessary for a “visit.” For National Parks or Monuments with an attached “Preserve” (e.g. Denali NP & PRES) the NPTC allows you to treat a single visit as counting for “both parts” of these parks, or you may decide to physically set foot separately in the designated Park/Monument and the designated Preserve, based on your preference.
